What happens if the surgery is safeguarded?

If, following the focused consultation and the examiner’s findings, Mole Valley District Council decides to keep Policy WNDP7 (the surgery safeguarding policy) in the Plan, the Neighbourhood Plan moves to its final stage: a village-wide referendum.

The referendum is a single yes/no vote on the whole Plan — it is not possible to vote on individual policies. If more than half of those voting vote yes, the Plan is adopted and becomes part of the statutory development plan used to decide planning applications in Westcott. If not, it does not come into force.

A referendum date has not yet been set. We recommend that every resident votes — it is the final opportunity for your opinion to be heard.

This has never been an objection to the Neighbourhood Plan itself. Dr Guilder’s concern is with one policy, and the family hopes the final Plan will be one the whole village can support.
